Adventures Come in Many Forms

I’ve been thinking a lot about the meaning of adventure. When I started this blog, the idea was to share, in a relatively unfiltered way, the big and small travel-focused adventures in the areas we live and visit. Then I started paying attention to the travel blog space, and it didn’t fit.

Most travel feels aspirational, and in this economy, even more so. I understand and recognize the privilege that moving around for my partner’s job has given me to travel along the way. I also realize that it’s not the case for everyone, and in our new season, we aren’t traveling as much.

We are lucky to be settled in Northern Virginia for the time being, an area with so many wonderful adventure options within an easy drive. I will work on sharing those, but I’d like to mix in some examples of alternative adventures.

For example, we are settling into our little home, and it’s involved a lot of Home Depot adventures. Don’t expect to see any major fancy overhauls – I have no decorating eye. But I’d like to share a few of the little projects we work on over time and any lessons learned.

I’ll leave you with one lesson – scale matters when it comes to furniture, even for outdoor spaces. I spent forever looking for just the right dining table for our tiny deck, and this one from Wayfair fit the bill perfectly! The table tucks into a corner when not in use, and the chairs fold away.
